Houby is Czech for mushrooms. Pronounced HOO-bee. The founder is Czech. The pun was inevitable.

houby.me. Yes, it's intentional. 

Modern skin is overwhelmed. Over-exfoliated, oversold to, running on four hours of sleep and a 14-step routine that somehow made things worse. We started Houby because the answer to that didn't seem to be more products. It seemed to be better ones.

Two mushrooms. Reishi and Tremella. Fermented, so your skin actually gets to use them. Paired with ceramides, beta-glucan, and the kind of ingredient list you can read without a biochemistry degree — though if you have one, you'll probably appreciate it more.

 

Three products. Formulated to work together or alone. No system to buy into. No ritual to perform. No before-and-afters that require a lighting rig.

MUSHROOM INGREDIENTS · CLEARLY NAMED

Tremella · Snow Mushroom

A translucent jelly fungus better known as snow mushroom. Tremella Fuciformis Extract appears in every HOUBY formula as part of its moisture-focused ingredient profile. It sits alongside familiar humectants such as glycerin and Sodium Hyaluronate—not as a fashionable replacement for either.

Reishi

The glossy bracket fungus at the centre of HOUBY. Ganoderma Lucidum Extract appears across the range, paired with fermented ingredients and familiar skincare components rather than being expected to carry an entire formula alone. Mushrooms are interesting. Complete formulas matter more.

White Truffle

Tuber Magnatum Extract—better known as white truffle—is reserved for 03 Treatment Mask. It sits alongside Tremella, Reishi, glycerin and Bacillus Ferment in the mask’s concise formula. Rare, yes. Magic, no.

Mushroom extracts and fermented ingredients are separate parts of our formulas. Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate and Bacillus Ferment are listed independently because accuracy is more useful than an invented “fermented mushroom complex.”

Fermentation

Fermentation uses microorganisms to transform a starting material under controlled conditions. The resulting cosmetic ingredient depends on the organism, material and process used. The word itself does not guarantee greater absorption, potency or compatibility with every skin type.

Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate

Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate is included in 01 Hydration Serum and 02 Barrier Cream. It is the filtered material produced through Saccharomyces fermentation, listed separately from Tremella and Reishi because the mushroom extracts themselves are not described as fermented.

Bacillus Ferment

Bacillus Ferment appears in 01 Hydration Serum and 03 Treatment Mask. Like the Saccharomyces ingredient, it is a distinct part of each formula—not evidence that the mushrooms or the complete product have undergone fermentation at any stage.

No Shortcuts

Fermented ingredients sit alongside mushroom extracts, humectants, lipids and other familiar components. We do not use fermentation as shorthand for deeper penetration, microbiome support or superior performance. We tell you what is included and leave the mythology out.

Frequently asked questions

Houby means mushrooms in Czech. It is pronounced HOO-bee. The name comes from our founder Marketa’s Czech background and a long-standing fascination with fungi. The .me is intentional. The mushroom obsession is as well.

Every HOUBY formula contains Tremella Fuciformis Extract, commonly known as snow mushroom, and Ganoderma Lucidum Extract, better known as Reishi. 03 Treatment Mask also contains Tuber Magnatum Extract, or white truffle.

The mushroom extracts are combined with familiar skincare ingredients rather than being expected to carry each formula alone.

We make this distinction because “mushroom extracts with fermented ingredients” is more accurate than “fermented mushrooms.”

Both. Neither exclusively. HOUBY was built for people whose schedules don't wait for a two-step morning ritual or a twelve-step evening wind-down. The Serum goes on. The Cream follows. The Mask when your skin asks for it. Morning flight, late-night deadline, two-hour sleep — the routine adapts. The products don't care what time it is.

Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate and Bacillus Ferment are cosmetic ingredients produced through fermentation. They are individual parts of the formulas.

Their presence does not mean the mushroom extracts—or the complete products—have been fermented. It also does not automatically establish deeper absorption, greater potency or compatibility with every skin type.

01 Hydration Serum is the lighter, water-based step. It contains Tremella and Reishi extracts, two fermented ingredients, humectants and barrier-associated lipids.

02 Barrier Cream has a richer texture with squalane, shea butter, three ceramides, cholesterol, ectoin and other conditioning ingredients.

Choose the texture you prefer or layer the serum beneath the cream.

No. The serum and cream can be used together or separately.

For the two-step routine, apply 01 Hydration Serum first and follow with 02 Barrier Cream. Use them morning, evening or both. Sunscreen should be the final step of your morning routine.

No mandatory ritual. No spreadsheet.

03 Treatment Mask is an optional, single-use step rather than part of the daily routine.

Apply it to clean, dry skin and leave it on for 15–20 minutes. Remove and discard the sheet, gently press in the remaining essence and follow with 02 Barrier Cream if desired.

No added fragrance, parfum or essential oils appear in the published ingredient lists.

Fragrance-free does not necessarily mean completely scentless. Individual ingredients may have their own subtle natural scent, and everyone’s skin responds differently. Patch testing is sensible when introducing any new skincare product.
