Houby is Czech for mushrooms. Pronounced HOO-bee. The founder is Czech. The pun was inevitable.

Modern skin is overwhelmed. Over-exfoliated, oversold to, running on four hours of sleep and a 14-step routine that somehow made things worse. We started Houby because the answer to that didn't seem to be more products. It seemed to be better ones.

Two mushrooms. Reishi and Tremella. Fermented, so your skin actually gets to use them. Paired with ceramides, beta-glucan, and the kind of ingredient list you can read without a biochemistry degree — though if you have one, you'll probably appreciate it more.

Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) and Tremella, also known as Snow Mushroom, are two of the most studied botanicals in modern skincare — and two of the oldest ingredients in recorded human use. We ferment them. That matters. Fermentation breaks down the cell wall, making bioactive compounds more available to skin than they'd ever be in raw extract form. The result is less "wellness trend", more precision delivery system. You're welcome to be sceptical. The formula will handle the rest.

Think of fermentation as unlocking a door that standard extraction leaves closed. Raw Reishi and Saccharomyces contain remarkable things — beta-glucans, polysaccharides, postbiotic compounds — but unfermented ingredients give skin far less to work with. Fermentation reduces particle size, generates new bioactive byproducts, and brings the whole formula closer to skin. It's why our Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate sits near the top of the INCI, not as a footnote.

Most formulas are built around one hero ingredient wearing a cape. Ours are built around systems — fermented mushroom extracts working alongside ceramides, beta-glucans, Ectoin, Madecassoside, and Centella. Each element earns its place on the list.
